I was honored to have “The Glade” selected for the 41st Annual Michigan Fine Arts Competition at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center. This long running, well established exhibit invites artists from Illinios, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan to submit artwork for juried selection. It’s highly competitive, so I was surprised to have a piece accepted and excited to be a part of this exhibition.
Getting into the 41st Annual Michigan Fine Arts Competition was honor enough, but the biggest shock was that I won top prize! It was a privilege to be recognized when so many impressive artists were represented. The work was stunning, varied and interesting. I’ve included some pictures of the exhibit in this post, but there was no way I could capture the depth of talent with my camera.
The Birmingham Bloomfield Arts Center is a great organization. The gallery space is excellent. They offer classes and have a shop full of handmade gifts. Many of the items are created by the instructors. They almost always have an exhibit or two hanging and when you need a little culture, it’s a fun place to visit.
We took our girls and grandsons to see the exhibit. The boys are 6 and under, so we planned a trip to a playground afterward. It’s important to expose children to the arts, but come on, we all have our limits. So it was a little culture and a lot of play! FUN.
